Our Story

Small batch, Vegan, Handmade in San Jose

Dirty Jackal Soap is made by hand in San Jose, California. We love the hands on process of making batches of soap, from pouring the oils and butters to slicing each bar.

Making soap dates back centuries. However now often the soap available in stores uses unsustainable ingredients, is drying and smells more like baking soda than actual soap. Dirty Jackal soap is about taking us back to the simple soap humans used to enjoy. We use only five ingredients and we don't add any scents - the natural scent of the oils gives it a light, refreshing smell. We are 100% vegan.

Our key ingredient is activated charcoal. The charcoal turns the bars  black and comes out looking like dirt when you rub it on your skin. While it looks dirty, it is actually sucking the toxins out of your skin and gives the bars a course, exfoliating texture. When you wash it away, your skin will be extra clean and moisturized from the oils. This is how "dirty" came to be part of our name. The jackal came along too since they are considered one of the dirtiest animals in the world.

Come try a bar, slow down in the shower and rub on some dirt!
